Greeting from the Mayor
Ladies and gentlemen, fellow citizens, dear internet users,
Welcome to the website of the Brüggen municipality. I appreciate your interest in our beautiful community in the midst of the international Maas-Schwalm-Nette Nature Park.
High-Class Living and Commerce
The picturesque historical downtown cores of Brüggen, Bracht and Born with centuries-old churches, places of interest and buildings protected as historical monuments are our focal points. More than 700 years old, Brüggen Castle attests to our eventful history and offers comprehensive information about our livelihood in the hunting and natural history museum as well as the nature park information centre. The professionally restored Bracht windmill, a worthy monument even without its sails but featuring an extremely rare mechanical mill work and the museum of local history, the Brüggen mill and the Born mill along the idyllic Schwalm never cease to fascinate visitors.
Be sure to visit our friendly gastronomy operations found throughout the community. “Always Open for Happy Hour” is the slogan of downtown Brüggen.
We appreciate the fact that young families are moving and building here. They hold the future of our community in their hands; even now, we are already a younger than average municipality. But Brüggen also offers the latest standards as a retirement community and in facilities for seniors or assisted living as well as basic medical care.
Economy in Brüggen – Vital and Varied
A varied mix of industries ranges from the historical yet highly modern roofing tile works to clean chemical processing plants, specialised wholesale and logistics companies to the headquarters of a major bakery chain. The commercial portal is well worth a visit.
Brüggen has a healthy mix of tax revenues and allocated funds combined with a visionary, frugal fiscal policy implemented by the county factions and administration, with favourable results: When loan balances are offset against reserves, our municipality is actually debt-free.
Feel at Home in Brüggen
As a citizen, guest or entrepreneur – we want to you to feel at home in Brüggen. We want you to be satisfied with the services offered by our community. All of the employees in the Brüggen and Bracht town halls and municipal facilities are committed to this goal.
This website is our virtual calling card, conceived and developed by our talented IT managers Guido Schmidt and Sascha Achten. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their initiative, dedication and creativity. These pages offer barrier-free access to municipal information for the disabled.
