The policy department investigates and prosecutes administrative offences and is responsible for maintaining public safety and order.

Arbitrators mediate disputes under municipal law as well as criminal cases. Compared to appealing to the courts, mediation by the arbitration board in case of disputes and conflicts has significant advantages for the parties involved:

The main responsibility of the police is to maintain public safety and order as well as prosecuting administrative and punishable offences in its capacity as a law enforcement agency. It is also responsible for traffic monitoring and control. In case of emergencies, you can reach the police anywhere in Germany by calling the emergency number 110.

The Viersen District Fire Brigade Association is the umbrella organisation of the volunteer fire brigades in the Viersen district. It represents fire fighters, looks after their training and continuing education, bundles their interests and promotes them. This also applies to the girls and boys in the district’s youth fire brigades.
District fire chief Klaus-Thomas Riedel is the chairperson of the district fire brigade association. He is assisted by deputies Thomas Metzer and managing director Helmut Pasch.
