The Viersen District Fire Brigade Association is the umbrella organisation of the volunteer fire brigades in the Viersen district. It represents fire fighters, looks after their training and continuing education, bundles their interests and promotes them. This also applies to the girls and boys in the district’s youth fire brigades.
District fire chief Klaus-Thomas Riedel is the chairperson of the district fire brigade association. He is assisted by deputies Thomas Metzer and managing director Helmut Pasch.
The Brüggen volunteer fire brigade consists of the Brüggen and Bracht fire trucks as well as the Born and Lüttelbracht fire fighting groups. Around 90 men and women actively participate in the fire brigade. The fire brigade fellows, aged 60 years and older, are the senior and honorary members of the Brüggen fire brigade. There is also a youth fire brigade to train boys and girls as up-and-coming fire fighters.
